Kasabian @ MEN Arena

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I just don’t ‘get’ Kasabian. I’ve never really understood that particular band wagon. but I can’t deny they put on a great show and are fantastic to shoot – hence why I opted to shoot them for a second time in 6 months.

I made my way over to the MEN early as I wanted to catch the first support act ‘Various Cruelties’ – fronted by Leeds lad Liam O’Donnell – who seem to be catching a lot of good press at the minute. I was also looking forward to shooting the main support act Miles Kane too, but due to a balls up with the security that couldn’t happen. neh’mind.

Kasabian took the stage – initially minus Tom – to an impressive laser-projected backdrop. Serge, sporting what looked like a costume from 1980’s fantasy film the Dark Crystal took most of the initial plaudits, till Mr. Meighan took to the stage. Thankfully on this occasion Tom had changed his hair and was sporting a different pair of sunglasses, so there’s a little distinction between the two gigs.

As always, Tom played the crowd with his usual character which was great to shoot. Serge, on the otherhand, only opted to interact with the crowd whenever the light was at it’s lowest, so it was difficult to get any killer shots of him. Also, as a bonus, managed to get a couple of shots of guitarist Jay Mehler. (I know, Kasabian isn’t just a two piece!).

Anyways, not really much else to say. Gander:
