Caught up with my old friends The Dunwells at the start of the summer to shoot some press shots for their forthcoming EP, Colour My Mind.
I met the guys at their rehearsal spot in Leeds as a practice was coming to an end - it was great to have a soundtrack whilst I set my gear up! Once the rehearsal had drawn to a close, we cleared some gear out of the way to utilise a large wooden boarded wall at the back of the room. The wooden panels gave the shoot a very clean, bright feel which we are all really happy with. We tried a couple of different setups against the wooden wall, before moving on to a different location.
The second location was a communal area within the rehearsal space, which had a much more 'homely' feel. The lounge-like space was made predominantly from repurposed palettes, with some additional lights and furnishings to feel a bit more welcoming. This area was a lot darker, so had to really push my lighting and ISO to ensure I got a decent exposure without killing the tones.
It was great to catch up with the guys - having not seen them for a good few years, we had a fair bit to catch up on: lineup changes, musical style, management and label changes, an awful lot has happened since our last shoot on location of the "Follow The Road" video shoot.
