Can't beat shooting proper Rock/Metal bands.
My first time shooting a gig in York, at the very impressive Barbican Centre. It was a great opportunity to shoot Bullet on a smaller stage, as well as providing a nice challenge of shooting more animated subjects in potentially tougher lighting conditions.
Sheffield lads While She Sleeps were the main support for the evening, and were a great subject to allow me to work out some angles and such prior to the headliner. It became pretty apparent that none of the larger lenses I'd brought with me were going to be necessary given the size of the stage and the pit. The Barbican is very reminiscent of Leeds Arena, just on a smaller scale.
The light for both bands wasn't particularly easy to shoot, so all the gig was shot on my trusty 35mm f1.4 lens, which presented a challenge in it's self - the ridiculously shallow depth of field made focusing a real battle, but I managed to come away with a set of frames that I'm happy with.
Definitely worth the trip over - WSS and Bullet were awesome. Certainly going to be sticking more metal bands on my lists in the month to come.
